Your Local Mornington Peninsula Landscaper

The Peninsula is a patchwork: established family homes, holiday houses tucked near the bay and the beaches, and larger acreage and hinterland blocks through Red Hill and Main Ridge. Based in Hastings and working right across the region, Phil brings 15 years in the trade and commenced the business Philip Louk Landscaping in 2020.

  • Blocks closer to the bay are exposed to the coast, which is why native and coastal gardens are a common choice near the water.
  • Hinterland and acreage properties around Red Hill, Main Ridge and Tuerong often call for mass planting, larger-scale work and machine access, all of which Phil is set up for.
  • Plenty of Peninsula gardens are second homes or holiday houses, so low maintenance gardens are in steady demand.
  • Newer estates sit houses much closer together, so plenty of jobs call for compact machinery. Where there is no machine access at all, the excavation is done by hand.

Knowing the ground, the aspect and the weather a garden has to live with is half the job, and it shapes the calls Phil makes on site.

The Process

Every Mornington Peninsula landscaping project, from a bit of planting through to a full garden renovation, follows the same clear, honest path. Here is what working with Phil looks like.

Get in touch.

Enquire by phone, text, email or the website form. Phil comes back to you to understand what you are after and whether it is the right fit.

Call and free site visit.

Phil calls to run through the job, then books a free on-site visit. He works with you to shape your ideas and scope out your project, taking measurements, photos and videos of the space.

Your estimate.

You receive a written estimate setting out the works to be carried out, with the aim to have it back to you within 48 business hours of that site visit.

Accept and schedule.

You accept by email, a 5% deposit invoice secures your dates in the calendar, and a courtesy reminder follows 24 to 48 business hours before the start.

The work begins.

Work gets underway with constant communication throughout, so you always know where things are at. Invoicing is staged to suit the size of the job: shorter jobs are simply settled on completion, and longer ones are invoiced in progress payments as the work moves along. Either way, nothing lands without you knowing it is coming.

Walkthrough and handover.

On the final day of the job, if you are available, Phil walks through the finished work with you to make sure you are happy, then issues the final invoice. A quick Google review is always appreciated.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What areas of the Mornington Peninsula do you service?

Our landscaping on the Mornington Peninsula covers the whole region from our Hastings base, taking in Mount Martha, Mornington, Sorrento, Red Hill and beyond. We also work regularly across Bass Coast and Western Port, the south east suburbs of Melbourne and Bayside. It is always worth asking.

  • Do you do both soft and hard landscaping?

Yes. Phil handles the soft side, planting, lawns, garden beds and maintenance, as well as the hard side, paving, walls, edging and outdoor entertaining areas. Having both under the one team means the whole garden comes together without you coordinating separate trades.

  • Do you offer free estimates?

Yes, for every client. Every landscaping job starts with a free on-site visit, and Phil aims to have your written estimate back within 48 business hours of that visit.

  • Will I deal with Phil directly, or a crew?

You deal with Phil throughout. He is the landscaper on the Mornington Peninsula who runs through the job with you, estimates it and oversees the standard from start to finish. That direct line is the whole point of a boutique, owner operated business.

  • Are you qualified and insured?

Yes on both counts. Phil is trade qualified, the business carries full public liability insurance, and Phil is a licensed excavator and skid steer operator, so the machine work is handled properly and safely on site.

  • Do you take on small jobs, or only full landscaping projects?

Both. From a single section of the garden or a quick refresh through to a complete makeover, Mornington Peninsula landscaping projects of every size are welcome, and Phil works to suit different budgets.

  • Do you offer ongoing maintenance after the work is done?

Yes. Ongoing maintenance and a plant establishment period are available to clients whose garden we have landscaped, and there is a 5% loyalty discount on regular maintenance after a completed landscaping job over $5,000. As the business grows, a team member may carry out some routine visits, but the standard stays consistent and Phil stays across the work.

  • How far ahead are you booked?

It varies with the season and demand. Winter lead times are often around a couple of weeks, while summer can stretch to two or three months. The best way to know is to enquire, and Phil will give you an honest idea of timing when he estimates the job.

  • What does it cost to get started?

The estimate is free, and a 5% deposit confirms your booking and secures your dates. From there, progress invoicing is staged through the job, so you always know where things stand. There are no hidden costs sprung on you at the end.

  • Can you help with coastal or native garden styles?

Yes. Native and coastal gardens are a popular choice on exposed Peninsula blocks, and as landscapers on the Mornington Peninsula we can talk through plants that suit your aspect and position when Phil is on site.
